Favorite Type of Communication

When it comes to communicating my favorite will always be talking directly to someone in person. I know the culture is changed and everyone wants to text or use social media but I see it as losing the art form of verbal language and the ability to meaningfully connect and convey a message, having the ability to create interpersonal relationships is so important. I have seen kids that are afraid to talk to people because this fear of "not knowing how to" say or ask questions and being afraid of what those responses might be followed up with body language. The thought that they would have to see and hear that scares them. Its easier to hide behind a keyboard and say what you have to say without worrying about what the response is going to be.

Social media is fun and texting can be a great tool. But when the message is important, I prefer getting it out in person because things like tone and body language can make so much of a difference. Having a lot of different ways to communicate creates nice diversity, but my preferred method of communication will be a nice meet up and lets talk in person.

Nursing Memes That Give Comedic Relief

So I selected these memes for there nursing wit and they definitely bring a smile to my face. I hope everyone will enjoy them as much as I do.

This is the time of year were it seem like we all just have those extra assignments and we are trying to get as much done as possible before Thanksgiving which kind of appears like we get a break but we all know, nursing school is cruel and we will have exams and papers to finish, all to the chagrin of deep down in our hearts we know its whats best for us. If anything can I get an extra slice of pie for my troubles, and maybe some extra plain stuffing. I hate it when it gets all fancy and loaded with too much stuff.
So tomorrow is my shot in the seat at Webex I think my group is a little on edge. I know we are all going to do fine. Then its right onto the next one. Informatics class has been interesting. Definitely a different approach but necessary with all the rapid new technology that has come down in to the nursing ranks. We all have different levels where we are at. I wish everyone a good night sleep

Comfort Foods

When its comes to comfort food, where do I begin? I love pizza! It's just phenomenal. Since I have been living in Riverside the last year I have found one place so far that makes a pretty good pizza out here. Cesaro D' Italia's. They are at Address 6160 Arlington Ave C4, Riverside, CA 92504 Dine in or pickup with delivery to a local area. There are more places to try and look forward to it. I am an Orange County transplant, and I would be remised if I didn't tell you that if you like Chicago style pizza, you have to try Tony's in Placentia. They do a 5 star job over there. Super tiny place with limited tables, delivery to a small local area and pick up of course. They are at Address 1808 N Placentia Ave B, Placentia, CA 92870.

I love beef jerky, peanuts, my current candy kick is starburst mini's. I always like Reese's Pieces, Tootsie Rolls and Milk Duds. When it comes to dessert after a meal, Ice Cream will always win!. I have seasonal faves like for the Fall and Winter Holidays, Pumpkin, Apple Pie and Ginger Bread will always be a way to my heart. Lately my daughter has been hyping Fruity Pebble Rice Crispy Squares that are delicious. Favorite comfort fast food has to be Del Taco or Der Wienerschnitzel. It is fruit of the devil as my brother says.

But when I am home and mom is cooking its going to be Ham and cheesy scalloped potatoes or some type of Hearty Meat Loaf or Lasagne. My mom is a whiz in the kitchen and she can make anything your heart desires.

So these are just a few of my favorite things that comfort me when I am stressed or just want to snack on something familiar....By the way did I mention Gingerbread? Tis the season!

Bucket List

Bucket Lists I think are great in a general since that it’s a list that we check off and we feel accomplished. We see literature and get recommendations from friends and see stuff bombarded at us on social media and then we go in to a dream board phase in our heads where we see ourselves in strange lands, with strange faces, asking ourselves, why didn’t I come here sooner.

Some us have been fortunate to travel with families and go places with significant others, but I just want to give one piece of advice, to anyone who is young and can handle the rigors of the unknown. Go. Do not wait and say I will go here another time. Find ways to get yourself there. Meet people, experience life through a lens that will gain you experience back home ten fold. Travel is the best way to shape a future part of your self. To gain cultural experience whether you have a predisposition to something or not. It will shape you. Travel will make you well rounded, teach you patience, and to be more self aware of the space that other people create around themselves. Ok. Well enough of me being on my soapbox. Where do you want to go? I’ve hit some spots here and there. Most of the Caribbean islands, Mexico, Costa Rica, Jamaica, places like that. I’ve gone on some cruises and I am not the biggest fan of travelling that way but if its going to get you to go, then go. I like going to a place and immersing myself there and talking with people. Nothing beats getting out of your comfort zone and just talking to other people that our local there, of course it helps if they can communicate back and forth. Do this a few times and you realize you can talk to anyone, anywhere. Conquering that fear whether you are at home or abroad is such an awesome feeling. Now places I want to go are some obvious ones, like “all of Europe” Now it is called the old country for a reason and definitely want to see anything ancient. Speaking of ancient, Pyramids, Jerusalem if it’s safe enough to go I want to get there. Borealis is magnificent and the Northern Lights should be a great thing to see up in Iceland and is very high on the international travel list. Tropical and beaches, which are my favorite, it’s going to be Bora Bora. I turned down Bora Bora for Costa Rica to go with a friend instead of solo to Bora Bora and Costa Rica was a magical trip for me, but next 5k saved that’s where you will find me. So far, next doable vacation is a little spot in Mexico called Ixtapa. I recommend the Las Brisas Resort. All-inclusive package is a must. For about $2300 for two people and you’re in paradise. I’ve been twice both times in January before spring semesters (first two weeks of January super slow great for downtime vacationers) started for me in junior college. Every room has private balcony and if you need shrimp cocktail ran up to you on the beach with your drinks they have that there too. I’ve never seen a more beautiful sunset, and their beach is private and only resort that has one. Besides who doesn’t mind getting in the ocean when its like bath water. A great place I plan on going back as soon as possible. Definitely already watching to book my travel. There are local things I have not see and cities to go to as well. Boston, New York, Chicago, Mount Rushmore, Yosemite, Now that I am an adult, trying to convince someone, anyone to do a Fab 5 camping trip in Utah. There are even local hikes I want to do like Mt. Rubidoux which I will do soon as the weather cools down. Camping at San Clemente State Beach is something I have been doing the last few years after fall session. Break those chains keeping you at home. Get out, do something new. Make your list and get going.

Live your Purpose CBU says, the journey starts there, make sure to fill it up with stops along the way. I say a Prayer for everyone that journeys to his or hers unknown.

UPDATE: Yay Shadow Health is done. Just in time....I'm off to take a nap. Arrived safely in Florida and at my Brothers. Thunderstorms and yucky humidity...Oh joy!

Wednesday, October 4, 2017

Well my fellow blue cohort, I am currently flying (11:58 p.m. PST) somewhere over the Midwest (taking the red-eye) and I'm thinking about you and praying for a total successful trip for you guys. I am sorry to have missed it.

I am on my way to my brothers wedding. It was important to have his brothers there as our dad passed away 6 years ago at the tender age of 57. Plus he is estranged from his mom my dads second wife. He needed us there for emotional support as he is getting married on our dads birthday as he planned it.

I am very bummed this flight has no power outlets as It has wifi but no power to charge my computer, so it of course died in the middle of my second attempt of Shadow Health. #NoRestForTheWicked as I say....So, thought I'd just prep my brain to hit up my blog on my iPad and knock out my first post for Informatics. Probably going to hit up my flash cards I'm making for Dr. Perdue and Dr. Hamilton as well.

Prayers to you all and can't wait to see you back at the office...lol.
